Something exciting is on the way for Yorktown, Poquoson, Newport News, and Hampton, Virginia dogs who enjoy exploring beyond the neighborhood! Think car rides, scenic trails, and tail-wagging fun. While the details are still in the works, spots will be limited, therefore we wanted to share some of our plans before the start of the new year. If your dog loves adventure, message us in the Time To Pet portal to join the waiting list. Stay tuned… a dog adventure service is coming soon to Hearts at Home Pet Sitting!
What is a Dog Adventure?
A dog adventure is a field trip for well-socialized dogs that enjoy a little more adventure and exercise than a stroll around the block. Because these dogs crave activity and exploration, we'll pick them up from your home, drive them to a dog-friendly trail in the area, and allow them to interact with the environment while sniffing, walking, playing, and meeting other socialized dogs like them.
Once the adventure is complete, we will clean up your pup and bring them home to rest off the adventure. You'll receive real-time photos and updates during the adventure, then return to a worn-out (in a good way!) pup to enjoy the rest of the evening with.
How is a Dog Adventure Different from a Dog Walk?
A dog adventure is usually longer and more rigorous than a dog walk. For starters, dog walks happen in your neighborhood, therefore the opportunity for adventure is somewhat diminished when compared to walking or hiking on a trail. In addition, walks are less rigorous because they occur in neighborhoods where we adjust to traffic, other dogs, and your neighborhood's layout.
On adventure walks, we choose a location that allows your dog and our pet care provider(s) to really stretch their legs, pick up the pace, and be one with nature. No cars, no horns, no school buses, and no dogs barking from behind fences. While on an adventure walk, the dogs in our care travel to and from a trail with us. They safely explore the trail with us and, in some cases, other vetted dogs - which are active clients of Hearts at Home.

How Can I Sign My Dog Up for An Adventure Walk?
While our adventure walks don't officially launch until 2025, you're welcome to put your pup on our waiting list. We would love to gauge how much interest we have in this service to roll it out with the appropriate staffing and logistics. The more clients express interest, the better we can organize our team to manage demand. So, let us know if this sounds like something you and your pup would be into. No, you won't be adventuring with us, but we do need to know you're on board with Fido joining us for the experience.
Again, to get on our waiting list just click here and message us in the Time To Pet portal to join the waiting list.
